We whole heartedly recommend Paramount Building Group for the design and building of a custom home. Besides being trustworthy, hard working and precise, Bob and Dan are approachable, creative and patient. They tirelessly pursued our vision, turning our dream home into a beautiful reality. One of Paramount Building Group’s greatest strengths is their flexibility. In out particular case, we had several unforeseen family circumstances that could have easily derailed the timeline for our new home. But Bob and Dan put forth additional effort to accommodate our situation; communicating frequently through email and phone, making themselves available on nights and weekends, updating us with photos and important details, and keeping the project on time and accurate.
Bob and Dan are also problem solvers. They never said “No” to our unique requests. Instead they researched our questions, offered alternatives if necessary and did not settle for anything less than and excellent solution. Having build a custom home before and experienced numerous renovations, we understand that a successful builder needs to master both the day-to-day minutia and the big picture end result. Paramount Building Group possesses the ability to balance the equally important perspectives. We have truly enjoyed our interactions with both Bob and Dan. Their partnership is a brilliant merging of expertise, experience and high standards. Bob and Dan take great pride in their work and this is evident in the quality and beauty of our home.
We strongly recommend using Paramount Building Group for your building project.
We have known Paramount Building Group for about six years now dating back to the first home we build which was entered into the Parade of Homes. We had always respected Dan and Bob for their ability to work under any situation and see clearly to what the homeowners intentions were and how best to accomplish them.
We have used Paramount Building Group as our builder to do a number of projects large and small. We were fortunate to use their design ideas and utilize the craftsmanship of their subs contractors. On one of our projects, the Kalamazoo Gazette was so impressed that they requested entering it into that year Parade of Homes.
Paramount Building Group is the only general contractor we will ever consider due to the following reasons:
- They are extremely courteous and professional
- The projects are done in a timely fashion and all quotes are true from start to finish.
- We can honestly say that we trust them implicitly with their work and craftsmanship.
- Ideas are exceptional and they have the ability to take a conceptual idea the homeowner may have and put that into reality. Such is the case of our projects.
There are many people who pose as tradesmen, but are actually just after the widest margins on a project at the homeowner’s expense. Not Bob and Dan, for they understand that the latest completed project is their business card. They are as particular about the project as we are.
A couple of years ago, I had a dream. A halfbaked plan to pick up a 3,000 square foot, 140 year-old house and move it down the road. If that wasn't crazy enough, I envisioned it with all the amenities and the look of a new build with the "farmhouse feel" of my childhood. Warm, safe, secure, upscale and "down home".
With that daunting task set before me, we went to work to find a contractor to help us. After several meetings with you we knew we had found our builder. You took a chopped up, dingy, over-remodeled tank of a house and stripped it down to a working structure. Every one of your workers admired the house for its possibilities rather than picking it apart for its faults. When I changed my mind (or couldn't make it up at all) you were flexible and had input on shape, color, texture and design. Your experience in the field helped me to understand what other people were doing with their homes and the possibilities I had to choose from. You never said "No, that's impossible." You never said what I was trying to do was out of the question. You found a solution to some VERY difficult issues.
Inside and out, you and your team have helped me achieve a lifelong dream. The look and feel of a traditional Michigan "farmhouse" with the upscale eclectic style, comfort and design I wanted. From the expanded bath with its oversized Jacuzzi and glass shower, to the 100+ year-old, hand-made pocket doors spanning the opening between the dining and family areas. The bright, inviting entry, beautiful doors and replacement windows bring in so much light and give it a serene, airy feeling and ambiance. You thought of everything from integrated speakers throughout the house, heated tile in the kitchen, accent lighting, built-in display areas and additional storage. You gave the house a continuity and overall atmosphere, as if it was a new build (with the character of the old-world) and stayed within my budget.
Recreating the "look" of the trim and period architecture was the icing on the cake. The detail and attention you gave to molding and accents are reminiscent of the house's history. If you remember, the molding on windows and doors had been chiseled off flush with the two layers of plaster and faux wood paneling (and five coats of gaudy paint and wallpaper). Your understated floor trim and corner blocks focus the eye to the high ceilings and sculpted returns of the crown work at the tops of the doors and windows. I still refuse to put up drapes because I don't want to cover up those windows.
With a house that is 150 years old that has been structurally remodeled (that I can identify) in 1880, 1898, 1904, and 1954 (by professionals and hacks alike) you have created a showpiece. You have given it a cohesive look and feel that fits my lifestyle and my family. And you have done it professionally, and always with a smile.
I can't begin to list everything you have touched in this house. It is "new" from the inside out, but all the history and charm are still here. You let me keep my hand made, 150 year old doors. You updated the traffic flow to allow for a dynamic, less traditionally defined floor plan. I have all of the amenities of a 2006 kitchen and cable/phone hook-ups in every room. There is dependable, zone controlled heat and air conditioning on all floors along with smoke/CO detectors. Like I said, a dream.
